Data Sources

This page covers all the data sources available from the Insights API

Data Sources

/manage/insights/metric/duration

This provides the duration of orders from placement to dispatch. The metric is expressed in Minutes and can be used to visualise trends related to the speed at which orders are processed through the system.

/manage/insights/metric/buyers

This provides the count of individual buyers (unique customers) who have placed orders on a given date. This can be used (alongside customer counts) to visualise overall customer productivity trends.

/manage/insights/metric/customers

This provides the count of new customers created on a given date. In conjunction with the Buyers metric, this can provide insights into the effectiveness of customer acquisition initiatives, as well as supporting customer productivity analysis.

Tip: A cumulative sum can be applied in common BI tools to view the overall customer database growth.

Customers and Buyers are intended to be used together within BI toolsets to derive productivity metrics, and growth trend visualisation.

/manage/insights/summary/products

This provides the daily summary of sales of individual products. This is valuable alone, but can be combined with order volumes, splits and voids to identify areas of interest related to products.

⚠️

Note: Product summary requests can generate very large datasets, in many cases, extracting order data from the bulk export methods of the Orders API is more efficient if the capability exists.

/manage/insights/summary/voids

This provides information on the count of orders being voided on a given date. Note, the count data is also available indirectly from the orderstatus grouping, however the summary also provides the value field, which helps quantify the commercial cost of voids.

Tip: Combine this summary with order volumes to help identify trends around sales events.

/manage/insights/summary/splits

This provides count and value of orders being split. This can be used to determine trends related to order splitting, which can be a derived measure of stock and pick accuracy.

Tip: Combine this summary with order volumes to help identify trends around sales events.

/manage/insights/summary/collections

This provides the count and values of orders being collected from store. This can be used to determine trends related to click and collect, on a per store basis.

/manage/insights/grouping/orderstatus

This provides information on the count of orders transitioning through different order statuses over time. This can be used to identify and visualise trends relating to order fulfilment and progress.

Coupled with order volumes (available from the detailed orders source), this facilitates analysis around sales events and potential areas of excellence or improvement.

It is possible to combine this data with information from the Grid (optional eStar Commerce module) API sources to provide in-depth analysis of fulfilment performance over extended periods.

Tip: A recommendation is to visual the trends related to "incomplete stop states" separately to the transient states. I.e. Orders that have been resolved to a state of completion, but not shipped: Voids, Cancellations, Fraud.

These trends can help identify areas of concern. By visualising separately, these key metrics do not get swamped by the primary volumes transitioning through the temporary (or transient) states.

/manage/insights/grouping/collectionduration

This provides information on the timing of orders from arriving at a store to collection by the customer. The metric is expressed in Minutes, and can be used to visualise trends related to the speed at which orders are processed through the system.

/manage/insights/details/orders

This provides detailed information about order volumes down to a 15 minute granularity and includes delivery country and site as groupings.

Tip: The data can be used to provide drill down to the shape of sales volumes during key sales events - this can be used to visualise the effect of different marketing initiatives to help optimise timing and activity of direct marketing channels.

/manage/insights/multivariate/pickstatus

Provides pick performance for short picks, split picks & full picks, across dispatch points, including units and values. This provides useful information on the accurate and fulfilment quality of each dispatch point, also assisting in identifying trends on performance of overall fulfilment efficiency.

/manage/insights/grouping/repoints

Provides information on orders being rerouted for fulfilment between multiple dispatch points. Can be combined with the pick status, durations and overall order volumes to derive how sales events affect the performance of DIFOT.

/manage/insights/grouping/unitspicked

Provides counts of units picked per dispatch point. Useful as a performance metric on it’s own, but when combined with Units Dispatched, or Pick status, can highlight discrepancies in performance between the pick and ship process.

/manage/insights/grouping/unitsdispatched

Provides counts of units dispatched per dispatch point. Useful as a performance metric on it’s own, but when combined with Units Picked, and order volumes can highlight discrepancies in performance.
