Order Routing Explained

This page outlines the important concepts that cover the routing of orders within Viare

Viare is a Distributed Order Management System, in essence, this means that Orders, in whole, or in part, are routed to Dispatch Points for fulfilment.

Viare supports several routing models.

Single Dispatch Point

Typically used in simple routing configurations where a single Dispatch Point handles all fulfilment activities.

Manual / Expert Decision

Typically used in limited situations, or where particularly complex order compositions require specific decision making.

Push-based Routing

Automated routing based on pre-defined rules such as location/proximity, freight costs and stock availability. In this mode, Orders are routed to Dispatch Points at the time of the order being imported into Viare, this is often referred to as push-based routing.

On-demand / Pull-based Routing

Automated routing based on sophisticated, demand-driven fulfilment workflows. Unique to Viare, this mode makes routing decisions in a Just-In-Time manner based on configured performance and workflow criteria for each Dispatch Point.

Hybrid

Many businesses have complex or unique needs, and in these cases, all Viare routing modes work seamlessly together, allowing different use-cases to be met.
